It's important to me to use my time and resources to give back in a sustainable and consistent way. While there are so many wonderful organizations out there, I have decided to currently support 2 organizations with my art sales so that I can build a relationship with them and continue to support their work (rather than one-off donations here and there).
With every order placed on this website, I will donate 5% of each sale to one of the organizations below.
Donations will be made at the end of each quarter and split between the two organizations:
The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.
I've lived in Alabama since 2015, and am doing my best to learn the history of our country that I wasn't taught in History class. If you ever have the opportunity, please visit EJI's Legacy Museum and Memorial and read Bryan Stevenson's Bestseller, Just Mercy. The Museum is a sobering reminder that there is so much more work that needs to be done. You can donate to EJI here.
ServeHAITI is a non-profit organization working to foster health and development opportunities for the people of Grand-Bois, Haiti. Through their initiatives of HEALTH, WATER, EDUCATION, & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, they have worked in solidarity with their Haitian partners to improve the quality of life for the people of this impoverished region.
I first starting volunteering with ServeHAITI in 2006, when I took my first trip to Grand-Bois and fell in love with the people of this forgotten land. Since then, I have taken several trips to Haiti and also worked as Development Coordinator for the organization from 2015 - 2019. Although I really miss that meaningful work, I am committed to staying involved and giving back to my friends and family in Haiti.
